Next Event

We will be getting together at my place on Monday, December 21, at 6pm. If you can bring any old baskets, cards, festive paper, ribbon, recipes, ingredients(you can let Michelle or I know too, and we can get what we need), fruit, etc. (small things we can put together in a basket to give to people.
Our plan is to put a list together of people we know that we can go and visit, give them a gift basket, and maybe sing some carols with them(so also bring your instrument if you play one), and we will try and keep the list short(maybe 1-2 people per group member), older couples or older singles preferably. Please let us know if you can come on Monday night asap. Thank you!
PS Going to try and do this some afternoon next week.

Thursday night

Hope everyone has a great week, we will see you on Thursday night!!! God Bless!!!

present day "martyrs"

As I was laying in bed the other night, I started to think about the Christian martyrs of the centuries gone by, and as I did I couldn’t help but think of how the mindset of their heroism can be applied to our lives in the present times in which we are living. As confident, proud, young people, I’m sure each of us would boldly step forward in our conversations and discussions, and verbally say that we would lay down our lives for Jesus. However, I believe that there is more to this than first meets the eye. Understand that throughout the martyrdom of the early church, the shedding of a Christians’ blood was one of the engaging acts that inspired so many to join these new Believers and their faith in Jesus Christ. Figuratively speaking, their blood was like the life-giving rain to a farmers freshly planted field, with the seeds ready to sprout forth. So many people back then were inspired by these Christians and their desire to follow their God no matter what. God laid it on my heart that although we may or may not actually have to lay our physical bodies down in our lifetime, we should be willing to be “martyrs” in the small things in life. For instance, ask yourself, am I showing God to my friends when I go to this party, or this movie, or this gathering???? Don’t get caught up in the peer pressure and compromise, be willing to stand up for what will show God to your friends… even if they don’t see it right away. They won’t forget it and neither will family, friends, or even children down the road. Yeah, think about it, do you want to have a story to tell your children that your proud of(in a good sense of the word, proud), or one that brings back tears of heartache and sadness of how you failed your Lord. I am not saying we will be perfect, but remember what Phillipians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Also remember that, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” John 15:13. Lay down your life (i.e. your wants, desires, needs, satisfaction) for your friends today, so by your example they may see Christ!

A great Hymn!!

My Jesus, I love Thee, I know Thou art mine;
For Thee all the follies of sin I resign.
My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art Thou;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

I love Thee because Thou has first loved me,
And purchased my pardon on Calvary’s tree.
I love Thee for wearing the thorns on Thy brow;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

I’ll love Thee in life, I will love Thee in death,
And praise Thee as long as Thou lendest me breath;
And say when the death dew lies cold on my brow,
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

In mansions of glory and endless delight,
I’ll ever adore Thee in heaven so bright;
I’ll sing with the glittering crown on my brow;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.
